Its construction began back in 1987 scheduled to be completed in June 1989. If things had gone as planned, the construction would have been the world’s tallest hotel and 17th tallest building. Unfortunately things didn’t go that way and the construction was not completed on time. However, the collapse of the Communist bloc affected the North Korean economy, so after the outside of the hotel was completed, the construction stopped.

The building before being finished

That’s how the building came to be known as the worst one in the world. The unfinished construction as well as the lack of windows made people call it “Hotel of Doom”, “Phantom Hotel” and “The Worst Building in the World”.

After more than 20 years, the rights to the hotel were given to an Egyptian cell phone company, Orascom.

Construction resumed in 2008 with the exterior of the hotel being finished in 3 years. The interior is scheduled to be finished this year. Here’s how the building looks now. It might not be the most beautiful in the world but at least it’s no longer the worst.

Swinging his right arm in an attempt to drive away a bird, the man dressed as Darth Vader hit the woman in the back causing her “severe injuries” as the woman’s attorney, Timothy Ryan has stated. As a consequence, the woman sued the AIDS Services Foundation and Disneyland of Orange County in the Superior Court.

All this happened at the AIDS Walk Orange County held May 1, 2011, at the Anaheim resort. The sum of money the plaintiff, Lauren Ulrich, is asking for the medical expenses is somewhere around $25,000 or even more. The defendants in this lawsuit are Disneyland Park, Disneyland Resort, AIDS Services Foundation and Worldwide Services Inc. Incidents like this one prove to be rather favorable to some people. You just have to know how to turn things to your advantage.
